How to Create a Paleo Omelet?
Are you starting to get interested in following the Paleo diet based on the way humans ate during the Paleolithic age? This Paleo omelet is a simple breakfast or lunch dish that is easy to cook for anyone just starting out eating Paleo and tasty enough to carry on eating even when you're more familiar with Paleo cooking.
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp coconut oil
- 1/4 onion
- 1/2 tomato
- 1/2 lb cooked diced ham
Cooking Directions: Step by Step
STEP:1
Wash and sanitize your hands.
STEP:2
Wash the onion and the tomato then dice them and place into separate bowls.
STEP:3
Crack the eggs into a bowl and beat them well.
STEP:4
Put your stove on low heat.
STEP:5
Let the pan heat up for a minute then add coconut oil and allow to heat through.
STEP:6
Pour the eggs into the pan and tilt pan until the eggs cover the entire surface of the pan.
STEP:7
Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on low heat.
STEP:8
Gently fold the cooked edges of the eggs into the middle of the pan, pour the tomatoes and the onions into the egg then mix them well.
STEP:9
Let the vegetables settle into the egg mix for a minute or two and then add the diced cooked ham.
STEP:10
Continue to fold in the edges of the egg by mixing it into the center of the pan until the entire middle of the pan is covered with egg and the vegetables and meat are perfectly hidden.
STEP:11
Use a spatula to remove the omelet from the pan once it is cooked (should take no more than 10 minutes).
Tips
- You can use bacon fat, lard or grass-fed butter instead of coconut oil if you prefer.
- Add any herbs you like - especially fresh ones.
Warnings
- Do not use vegetable oils - these are not paleo.
